Snake with an AGENT smartwatch and Lumia 920

One of the first things I tried on the AGENT was porting over the snake game I made for Netduino. Because the Netduino and AGENT both run .NET Micro Framework, pretty much all the code just worked.

I just had to change the way blocks were drawn to the screen, and made a slight change to how the Bluetooth data was read. The only other change was to use the button helper method from the Agent.Contrib project.

Obviously, I’m not proposing that it is practical to use your phone as a controller. It will mainly be of interest to devs. But the game works with the watch button without a phone connected too.

To do this yourself, create a new AGENT app in Visual Studio, then copy in the Snake class from the download in the post above. Finally, replace the default Program.cs code with this:

And that’s it! One of the great advantages of the AGENT running .NETMF is that there are tons of apps already developed for Netduino that can be easily ported – which means the smartwatch will get a large app portfolio rather quickly.
